In this webinar we were welcomed by Andrew and Ronald Roszak from The institute of Childhood Preparedness. Andy and Ron reflected back on the top safety and security trends of 2022, to help you be prepared for 2023. They discussed leading safety and security practices, and gave us an overview of issues and topics that early childhood programs should be prioritizing as we head into 2023. Ronald Roszak – Senior Safety Advisor at The Institute for Childhood Preparedness!

Ron serves as the Senior Safety Advisor for the Institute for Childhood Preparedness. Previously Ron has served as a subject expert for Child Care Aware of America, supporting their Emergency Preparedness Team. Ron has over 20 years of distinguished service as a law enforcement professional, including experience as a patrol officer, tactical unit supervisor, watch commander, detective, and community outreach officer. Ron has a long history of conducting community outreach and training and was one of the first community educators for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program. He has received specialized instructor training from the Los Angeles Police Department, is a graduate of Marquette University, and is a certified as an active shooter instructor from the ALICE Training Institute, which specializes in active shooter trainings for civilians. Ronā€™s experience also includes conducting corporate investigations, including fraud detection and prevention and private security for Fortune 500 companies. In recognition for his outstanding service, Ron is a past award winner of the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. 

Andrew Roszak – Executive Director at The Institute for Childhood Preparedness!

Andrew Roszak, JD, MPA, EMT-Paramedic, serves as the Executive Director for the Institute for Childhood Preparedness, as Chief of Preparedness, Health and Environment for the Region II Head Start Association, and as an adjunct professor in the school of community and environmental health at Old Dominion University. Roszak is also the author of the three-book series Preparing for the Unexpected ā€“ which includes: Preschool Preparedness for an Active Shooter (A 2020 Independent Author Network Book of the Year Award winner in two categories), Preschool Preparedness for an Emergency, and Recovering and Reopening after a Disaster. Roszak has worked on emergency preparedness issues at the local, regional, state, and federal level for the past twenty years.
