Oregon Early Learning Foundations

Framework

Location: Oregon, US

Authors: Oregon Early Learning Division

Working as the foundation of future success, the Oregon Early Learning Foundations provides guidance to educators and parents on the development of children, from birth to five years of age. Oregon’s Early Learning Foundations is inclusive of all children, cultures, and special needs. The foundations work to document and observe eight developmental domains, they are; approaches to learning, the arts, language and literacy development, mathematics, physical education and health, science, social emotional development, and social science. Each domain is accompanied by a skill and indicator, giving a more specific observation of development.

Of note, the Oregon Early Learning Foundations are not to be used as a curriculum. As each individual child grows and develops at a unique pace, the foundations are to guide and document and not to diagnose or hold a child back.
