The Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines

Framework

Location: Colorado, US

Authors: Colorado Department of Education

The Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines works to provide a vision of development for all children from birth to eight years of age. The guidelines work as a predecessor to the Colorado Academic Standards for preschool through third grade. The guidelines were created to provide a standardized foundation for development and learning. As each child is unique, the guidelines allow for the inclusion of all children, including children from diver backgrounds and languages as well as those with disabilities.

The Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines allows for the tracking and proper documentation of the growth of a child. As the guidelines focus on the growth and development of children from birth to eight years of age, The Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines aims to ensure all those included in the life of a child, from parents and teaches to health providers as well as home visitors understand the importance of the early years and early development. It is to be of note, that the Colorado Department of Education stated that the guidelines are to provide support and are not to be used to dictate exact development of the developmental progress of all children.
