Utah Core Standards

Framework

Location: Utah, US

Authors: Utah Education Network

The Utah Core Standards works to provide public preschools with the tools and resources needed to create a curriculum that targets core development in young children. The domains covered in the standards include English language arts, mathematics, approaches to learning and science, social emotional and social studies, creative arts, as well as physical health and safety.

By creating a standards for public preschools, children will be provided with similar meaningful learning experiences prior to entering kindergarten. The standards have set a standard of development and knowledge expected by children at the start of kindergarten. It is to be noted that the standards are not to be used as a curriculum or to hold a child back from entering kindergarten.
