South Caroline Guidelines: Overview

Adapted from the Ohio Infant/Toddler initiative, the South Carolina Guidelines have created a common vocabulary amongst educators and parents across the state. The guidelines have created a standardized set commonly expected developmental milestones for children. The guidelines have been divided both by age group as well as through domains, skills, and indicators. Through observations, educators are able to accurately track and document the growth and development of children. As each child is a unique individual, no two children learn and develop the in the exact same way. With this, the guidelines allow for flexibility to accommodate all children, cultures and needs.
