How to Play the Detective Game

This game is fun and gets children using their detective skills! Seat the children in a circle six feet apart from each other. One child will leave the circle and become the detective. Within the circle, a leader is picked and will show the group what movements to do. After bringing the detective into the center of the circle, the players will follow the leader and start copying their actions. The detective has to figure out who the leader is!

🏆 Get competitive: Have the children set a timer to see who can figure it out the fastest.

Instructions

Step 1:

Gather the children in a circle 6 feet apart from each other.

Step 2:

Pick a “detective” and have them leave the circle, look away and cover their ears.

Step 3:

Select one child to be the leader, who will begin doing movements that the rest of the group has to copy.

Step 4:

Have the detective come to the middle of the circle and figure out who the leader is. The detective only gets three guesses and gets to choose the next detective. 

⬆️ For older preschoolers: Have more than one detective that compete to solve the mystery the fastest.

⬇️ For younger toddlers: Give them more guesses and maybe a few hints.
