Let’s get scrapping!

For this activity, children will use a variety of activities, from their fine motor, to planning, to observing. With a simple template, drop on some paint and scrape it with a card to see everything come to life!

📚 Books to explore:  Here comes the Easter Cat by Deborah Underwood, The Easter Eggs by Jan Brett, The Biggest Easter Basket Ever by Steven Kroll

🖌️ Messy ALERT! - This craft can get VERY messy so make sure to put down some newspaper, use a messy mate, or outside.

For this activity you will need:

Free printable template

Paint in squeeze bottles

White paper

Old credit card, gift card, or cardboard

Gold glitter paint or glitter glue (optional)

Messy mat or tray

Learning Outcomes

Identifying patterns

Creating patterns with art materials

Step 1:

Print out the bunny silhouette and cut it out.

Step 2:

Grab your paint and, using the bottle, squeeze or drizzle small amounts of paint onto the paper.

Step 3:

Then grab your card and scrape the paint off the paper.

Step 4:

Let dry.

Step 5:

Using another squeeze bottom at glitter to the edges of the bunny (optional).

✨ Pro-Tip - This is messy so have a cloth handy or paper towel to wipe excess paint off the card. Also, best to start at the bottom and work your way up the card.

⬆️ For older preschoolers: Have the children cut out the bunny or even create their own silhouette.

⬇️ For younger toddlers: Squeeze some glue to the edges of the paper and have them shake glitter all over the bunny. This way you can shake off and save the unused glitter.

Playful Questions

Why did you pick those colors of paint?

What do you think will happen when we take the card and scrape the bunny?

What happens to the colors as you scrape?

How can we make a pattern on this bunny?
