Meeting 21st century parents expectations in childcare [Webinar]

In this webinar we were joined by Melissa McLauchlan, Treina Gautreau and Michelle Evans from Grimsby Co-Operative Preschool, for a panel discussion on staying current with parents changing expectations in childcare. During this webinar we had an engaging discussion with a director, educator and a parent to discuss the shifting landscape of childcare and what centers can do to keep up. We got to hear directly what directors are noticing, the changes in the classrooms that educators are experiencing and what today’s parents are looking for when they seek out childcare. You do not want to miss this insightful webinar as you plan ahead for the 2023 school year!

šŸŽ¤Our Special Guests:

Melissa McLauchlan – Director at Grimsby Co-Operative Preschool

I have always had a passion for teaching and pursued this through Early Childhood Education in 2016. I was inspired by the wonderful Educators that took care of my own children in their preschool years and admired their dedication and devotion and knew this was the next part of my journey. With a never-ending reservoir of energy, I wear many different hats from Mom of two children aged 10 & 11, Executive Director at Grimsby Co-op Preschool, a Registered Early Childcare Educator, and a dance instructor at Expressions Dance Company. I am a positive advocate for both my staff and the families of the preschool community. My enthusiasm complements my incredible ability to develop and maintain a strong program that offers families support and flexibility.

Treina Gautreau – Educator at Grimsby Co-Operative Preschool

I have been fortunate enough to have worked in the early childhood field for just over 20 years. During that time, Iā€™ve worked with all ages, implemented various learning approaches and taught alongside many amazing educators. In that mix I also became a mother to two strong kindhearted daughters. I have always believed that learning through play is the most beneficial to our children and that having parents involved in their childrenā€™s learning is a key part. As an educator as well as a parent I feel that self care and mindfulness are things we need to incorporate into our daily lives. Through exercise, experiencing the outdoors and caring for the world around us. I am still very passionate about the field therefore continually take opportunities to learn from other professionals, families and the children.

Michelle Evans – Parent at Grimsby Co-Operative Preschool

Michelle is a parent at Grimsby Co-Operative Preschool and joined us to discuss her experience as a 21st century parent with children in childcare. She shared what she needs as a parent in childcare, and what makes her experience with Grimsby Co-operative preschool stand out from the rest.

šŸ§ŖKey Learning Outcomes from Melissa, Treina and Michelle!

  • Parents were demanding digital communication and online payments. Switching to HiMama was the best thing they could do to support todays parents and improve their experience in childcare.
  • Educators were finding that with parents more in-tune to the importance of early learning they wanted to be more involved in the day to day. The only way they could manage these communication expectations was with HiMama.
  • For today’s parents, it is critical that they trust and feel safe where they drop their child off every morning. For Michelle, having HiMama made them feel safer and more involved with their child’s critical first years.
  • 21st century parents pay almost 100% of their bills online and most are eager to move away from cash and cheque’s.
  • The best thing you can do for today’s parents of young children is bring them into the conversation and ask what they need to have the best experience at your center.
