- The 5 steps to supporting children’s challenging behavior are; pattern interruptions, pre-frames, power looks, unique positive behavior reinforcers and a fast forward testing
- Supporting children through challenging moments should be a moment to connect with them and help them feel seen. It should be a win-win for educator and child, not a win-lose.
- As an educator, it is important to stay calm when supporting challenging behaviors. Cold breaths and deep breaths are a great way to regulate your body so you can respond with intention and avoid a big reaction.
- We are responsible for our communication to children and we cannot expect them to read our minds. Only expect from them, what has clearly been communicated to them.
