HiMama Celebrates 100 Million Moments Connecting Parents with Children

HiMama childcare app helps preschools connect working parents with their children during the day!

Toronto, ON, May 29 2017 – HiMama, a Toronto company that connects hundreds of thousands of working parents with their children in preschool and early childhood education programs, has surpassed the milestone of 100 million moments documented and shared through their app.

HiMama is currently being used widely across North America and in over 30 countries globally. “Moments” are records of activities shared by early childhood educators with parents through the HiMama app in written, photo or video format that are intended to keep families informed on the health, well-being and development of their children in their youngest, most formative years.

“HiMama’s goal is simple: connecting parents with their children. Before HiMama, most child care and preschool programs were using handwritten notes and reports both for their own internal records, as well as for sharing information with parents,” says Ron Spreeuwenberg, CEO of HiMama. “When I started talking to educators, I quickly realized that teachers were weighed down by paperwork that didn’t communicate the importance of early learning and development and their role as educators. That’s when the lightbulb went off and HiMama was born.”

HiMama is unique for a software company in that over a quarter of its team are Early Childhood Educators (ECE) with hands-on experience in preschool classrooms. The company, which has a strong social focus, includes the input of ECEs to inform product direction and to stay active and relevant in conversations happening in the early childhood community.

“I used HiMama at my preschool and it was a game changer,” says Kiah Price, ECE and Community Advisor at HiMama. “I could send my parents real-time updates of what I was working on with the children that linked to developmental milestones in our curriculum. This improved their understanding of how their child was developing and that my role wasn’t just babysitting. I moved from the floor to HiMama because the company is really working towards supporting educators in the field and that is really important to me.”

The HiMama app has a 4.5 star rating with over 2000 independent reviews and testimonials from parents and educators across various online platforms, making it the most-reviewed app available for early childhood educators. The app helps educators plan, document and reflect on children’s early development and provides accessible updates to parents about their children’s progress.
