  • Kim is our director at Summit County Preschool.Kim has been an instrumental and inspiring leader during the CoVID pandemic. Her positive attitude and can do spirit has been remarkable. Her leadership skills was inspiring to our staff and other directors at other preschools in Summit County. While our school was shut down she reached out to the state of Colorado, public health, and our local county health departments. With the latest guidelines and ever changing information, she developed and coordinated our reopening plans allowing us to reopen feeling safe and confident. Many of her plans were subsequently adopted by other child care facilities in the county.
Before reopening she addressed our mental health in several ways. A trained mental health professional visited with our staff with realistic and useful trainings. She pampered the staff with a wellness goody bag and mindful journal to help us to cope with stress and uncertainty. She has addressed countless staff, family, and children’s concerns with thoughtful well researched information to ease worries. Her can do spirit has lifted the staff as she reminded us…”WE can do this!”
Kim has a way of reaching out to our community for assistance with grant writing and as a ECE leader. She enabled all of the staff to be paid while being closed. We did not have to worry about how we were to pay our bills. She has written countless grants for literacy items, capital expenditures, upgraded laundry machines and many other items. She has stayed cutting edge with a grant to upgrade our playground for more nature based play! She has time to teach a college course as well as a high school class to help train upcoming ECE professionals.
Our staff is fortunate to have such a devoted leader, especially in these uncertain times. We can rest assured that Kim has our back. We are fortunate to have Kim as our director here at SCP!
