Location: Oregon

Child care associations promote the education and well-being of children, families, and child care providers.

As an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Oregon Association for the Education of Young Children (OAEYC) shares the core values of mission of the National organization. Oregon AEYC bring the national vision to the state level. Established in the 1940’s under the name the Portland Association for Nursery Education, the association works with individuals in the field of early care and education along with pediatric nurses and those interested in the development of children. After a name change in 1966, OACEY became a non-profit organization, grew to 255 members, and rallied together to successfully lobby for early education endorsement for elementary education certificates.

With over 1,300 members in 2015, OAEYC oversees 10 local chapters, all working towards providing the highest quality education and services to children and families in the state. OAEYC strives to support early education through offering accreditation's and professional development and through inclusive leadership development. To promote and improve the field of early education OAEYC is an advocate and a voice for educators as well as children. OAEYC also provides research and resources to all interested in early education and care.
